“Hoppers” faces a different challenge. It’s an original story, not a sequel. It doesn’t have built-in fan nostalgia. What it does have is Pixar’s brand, a Meryl Streep-powered voice cast, and the creative mind of Daniel Chong (“We Bare Bears”).
“Pixar has nothing to prove,” says animation industry analyst Rachel Kim. “They’ve delivered classics for decades. But in a post-Zootopia 2 world, the bar is higher.
